OUGD603: Brief 9 - Coffee Culture II // Just Bean Website Analysis

As I'll be designing the website for Coffee Culture, I've begun to look closely at other websites for similar independent coffee chains around the world. However, while looking on Webdesign Inspiration I found Just Bean – a site dedicated to drinking quality coffee, owned by Ben and Becky as they travel to their favourite coffee spots.

Rather than a website for a coffee shop, this is a website which showcases coffee spots around the UK – might visit a few for primary research. However, the imagery, focusing on the coffee itself would be beneficial. The main driving force behind Coffee Culture and their brand is the coffee, letting it speak for it self. Therefore it should dominate the space.

An example of this would be on their home page. Which is a responsive full screen slideshow, showcasing the different locations – the responsive design is demonstrated in the GIF below.

The slideshow pans through the different locations, large full width images dominating the page, beautifully.

The website also uses parallax imagery and typography as you scroll down the page, which is quite modern and in at the moment.  Using a clean minimal layout, centrally aligned throughout the website.

Additional images, also full width are added in to complement the minimalist style. The white space adding priority and presence to the main content and the images. Featuring the coffee, transferring the atmosphere to the website through the imagery.

More parallax.

Location section, including an embedded Google Maps section and the relevant content surrounding it. Allowing for clear and concise communication of information, as to where the coffee shop can be found.
